Milo W. Watson

Inducted: 1995

MILO W. WATSON (1917-1998) became publisher of the Perry Daily Journal in 1949. He was a newspaperman in Oklahoma for more than half a century. In 1967 he was president of the Oklahoma Press Association. Watson’s civic work and the influence of his paper helped make Perry an outstanding community. His role as mentor for young writers and editors influenced newspaper journalism throughout Oklahoma and beyond. He was named Perry’s Outstanding Citizen in 1982.

How to Submit a Nomination

Selection Process

Honorees are selected by a committee comprised of hall of fame members, including its director, and distinguished leaders in journalism. The Selection Committee considers all nominations, both new ones and those held over from previous years, before selecting the honorees.

The 2024 Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame nominee submission deadline is Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
