Robert E. Lee

Inducted: 1996

ROBERT E. LEE (1931-2014) wrote a highly acclaimed column three days a week for the Daily Oklahoman, serving as senior editor of Community. Born into a newspaper family, he worked for the Harper County Journal and held managerial positions in Woodward and Enid as well as on the Oklahoman. His record of volunteerism, especially in Lions Club International, is inspirational and caused him to be known around the world. His love for journalism prompted him to say, “I’ve never worked a day in my life. I’ve always been a newspaperman.”

How to Submit a Nomination

Selection Process

Honorees are selected by a committee comprised of hall of fame members, including its director, and distinguished leaders in journalism. The Selection Committee considers all nominations, both new ones and those held over from previous years, before selecting the honorees.

The 2022 Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame nominee submission deadline is Sunday, Ocober 31, 2021.
