Posthumously Inducted: 2020
VERA HOLDING (1894-1984) published four poetry books and was active in state women’s and writers’ organizations. She was editor of the Tipton Tribune, the Waurika-News Democrat and The Comanche Reflex. She also worked for The Duncan Banner and was a correspondent for The Daily Oklahoman, The Lawton Press and the Wichita Falls Record News and Times. She and her husband bought the Potter County News in Amarillo, Tex.
Selection Process
Honorees are selected by a committee comprised of hall of fame members, including its director, and distinguished leaders in journalism. The Selection Committee considers all nominations, both new ones and those held over from previous years, before selecting the honorees.
The 2024 Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame nominee submission deadline is Tuesday, October 31, 2023.
